Introducing
the XBox Modular Video System Providing Real-time Conversion Between 1080i,
720p, 525, and 625
Pasadena,
California, Oct 28, SMPTE Conference & Exhibit - VASgroup introduces the
XBox Modular Video System. The XBox offers in a single chassis the ability
to convert in real time between multiple HDTV and standard definition
video formats. The flexible design of the XBox allows any input to be
converted to any output video format.
The
modular design of the XBox permits users to build a custom system tailored
specifically to their needs. Additional functionality can be added later
to the XBox by purchasing new video input, output, or processing modules.
The modular design also serves as a guarantee against obsolescence. The
XBox features image manipulation functions such as anti-alias filters,
dynamic pan & scan, zoom, and complete aspect ratio control. In film mode
the XBox is capable of adding/removing a 3:2 sequence, and features offspeed
PAL input and output.
The
XBox eases the broadcaster’s transition to HDTV, by allowing the broadcaster
to continue to use some or all of their existing video equipment. The
VAS upconversion function is also useful in post production for the conversion
of legacy material to HDTV.
